Enrico Turrin, Deputy Director and Economist, Federation of European Publishers
Degree in Economics at the University Luigi Bocconi in Milan in 2000 and master’s degree in International Affairs at ISPI, Milan, in 2001. Project Manager at ISPI and lecturer on International Organisations from 2002. From 2005 to 2008, worked as an external expert and lecturer for ISPI and for a project by the Italian Foreign Ministry. Hired as an economist by FEP in 2008, where he is in charge of the sector statistics and of a range of other files. Deputy Director of FEP since 2012.
Dr Coromoto Power Febres is a Research Integrity Manager within the Publishing Ethics and Integrity Team at Taylor and Francis.
Before working in publishing, Coro pursued a career in research. After completing a PhD in Political Science at University College London, Coro worked in various research roles within and outside of academia focusing on minority representation and the European extreme right.
Coro joined Taylor and Francis in 2024, having previously led the Research Integrity team at Emerald Publishing. Coro is a member of the STM Research Integrity Committee.
Luigi Longobardi is Director of Publishing Ethics & Conduct at IEEE. Luigi leads IEEE’s work in implementing policies for integrity and ethics in IEEE conference proceedings and journals portfolio.
At IEEE, Luigi works with diverse teams of research integrity, operations, technology, and subject matter experts to resolve integrity and ethics concerns, incorporate best practices in screening, and to develop new tools to uphold research quality.
He shares IEEE’s expertise and vision for research integrity with the community by participating in conferences, working groups, and other events. Luigi has worked in academic publishing since 2012. He has spent a large part of his career working as an executive editor and assistant editorial director for academic publishers like the American Physical Society and the American Institute of Physics.
He joined IEEE in 2022, when he took on his current role.
Maria obtained a PhD in Biological Sciences at the University of Wroclaw, Poland in 2002 and held a permanent position there.
In 2006 she joined BMC as an in-house Editor for a number of BMC series biology journals. In 2010 Maria moved to the Biology and Medical Editors team. In 2014 she was appointed Biology Editor in BMC’s Research Integrity Group which in 2017 was restructured to become Springer Nature Research Integrity Group. She was also one of Founding Editors of Research Integrity and Peer Review.
In 2021 Maria joined Frontiers as Research Integrity Auditor Manager. Her branch of the Research Integrity team investigates large scale attempts at publication manipulation and is responsible for maintaining high quality of publications with regards to ethical standards and research integrity.
Kathleen Hines currently serves as a managing editor in the editorial division of J&J-Wiley.
She has a doctorate in educational leadership and policy, an MA in English, and ten years of editing and consulting experience. She is honored to serve on the STM ECPC and is also a member of Women of Wiley (WoW), Wiley’s professional development committees, and the International Society of Managing and Technical Editors (ISMTE).
Elizabeth is head of the Brussels office, head of government affairs EU and global policy lead on AI for RELX, a global provider of information-based analytics and decision tools for professional and business customers. RELX includes the well-known brands of Lexis Nexis, Elsevier and Reed Exhibitions. RELX is an unusual company both because of the breadth and depth of its offering and because it is a European company whose biggest market is the US. RELX is headquartered in London, with Elsevier headquartered in The Netherlands, Exhibitions in the UK and Lexis Nexis in France and the US. It is listed on the FTSE (top 10) Dutch and NY stock exchanges. RELX is a technology focused, IP intensive organisation so working there puts her at the centre of innovation and technology.
Elizabeth has a wealth of experience in public policy, government affairs and public engagement, having lived and worked in Brussels for over 25 years. She is the President of the British Chamber of Commerce EU/Belgium, having established and chaired its Digital Committee. She is also part of the American Chamber of Commerce EU leadership as a Committee vice chair. Elizabeth represents the company in a number of organisations including several European Trade Associations. She was also on the Board of the European Internet Forum (EIF) until the end of this mandate.
Elizabeth is an accomplished speaker and facilitator, having chaired many high-level events and debates, particularly on AI and technology related issues. Most recently she spoke at the Dutch Association VNO/NCW at their AI Congress, at a ScienceBusiness Roundtable and for the STM association. She has also been involved with this topic in CEPS, the Brussels-based thinktank.
Peter Schoppert is Director, NUS Press, the scholarly publisher of the National University of Singapore. He has made his career in Singapore in book publishing, digital publishing, strategic communications and management consulting.
Peter went to Singapore on a Fulbright fellowship, studying Singapore politics, and earning a masters degree from the National University in Singapore. Wanting to stay in Singapore a bit longer, he found work in book publishing as an editor. He never really left, despite some attempts and detours, either book publishing or Singapore.
Peter served as Editorial Director for illustrated book publishers Times Editions and then Editions Didier Millet. He later co-founded regional consumer online publisher Asiacontent.com, which had a NASDAQ IPO. He recovered from the dotcom boom-and-bust by helping to revive the fortunes of Singapore University Press, later renamed NUS Press.
Peter worked at leading strategic consultancy, McKinsey & Company for six years, and served three terms as President of the Singapore Book Publishers Association (SBPA). He remains on the SBPA Executive Committee and is a member of the Copyright Working Group of the International Publishers Association or IPA.
Dr Foley became Australia’s ninth Chief Scientist in January 2021 after a lengthy career at Australia’s national science agency, the CSIRO, where she was appointed as the agency’s Chief Scientist in August 2018.
While working at CSIRO, Dr Foley made significant contributions to the understanding of nitride semiconductors and superconducting electronics. Dr. Foley and her team’s most successful application is the LANDTEM sensor system used to locate valuable deposits of minerals deep underground, such as nickel sulphide, silver, and gold.
Dr. Foley’s scientific excellence and influential leadership have been recognised with numerous awards and fellowships, including being elected to the Australian Academy of Science in 2020, being named an Officer in the Order of Australia in 2020 for service to research science and the advancement of women in physics, receiving the Clunies Ross Medal of the Australian Academy of Technological Science and Engineering in 2015, and receiving the Australian Institute of Physics Medal for Outstanding Service to Physics in 2016. She was elected as a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Science and Engineering in 2008.
Dr Foley’s previous roles include membership of the Prime Minister’s Science, Engineering and Innovation Council, President of the Australian Institute of Physics, President of Science and Technology Australia, Editor-in-Chief of Superconductor Science and Technology journal, and a council member for Questacon.
Dr. Foley is committed to helping Australia realise the transformative potential of critical technologies and meet the climate challenge. She is an inspiration to women in STEM across the globe and focused strongly on equality and diversity in the science sector.
Rachel Scheer is External Communications Director, Academia & Government at Clarivate, a leading global provider of transformative intelligence. At Clarivate, she is responsible for delivering the global communications strategy for leading research, education and library solutions, including Web of Science™, ProQuest™, Ex Libris™ and Innovative™.
Prior to joining Clarivate, Rachel worked for Springer Nature as Head of Communications, USA where she helped create the Science on the Hill event series which connects experts in the scientific community directly with lawmakers on Capitol Hill and oversaw the communication strategy for Scientific American. Prior to that she worked for National Geographic Adventure as an Assistant Editor.
