Anne Taylor
Dr Anne Taylor is Associate Director, Funding Operations and Governance at Wellcome based in the UK. Wellcome is a global charitable foundation that works towards everyone benefitting from science’s potential to improve health and save lives. This is achieved by funding discovery research over a broad range of disciplines – including social sciences and the humanities – as well as focussing specifically on three urgent health challenges: mental health, infectious diseases and climate and health.
Anne’s role is wide-ranging, with responsibility for grant governance including funding related policies; the grant application system and information desk; and grants data and reporting. In her time at Wellcome, she has played key roles in getting targeted funding for PhD students for transferable skills training, implementing the Investigator Award scheme, rewriting the Concordat on Research Integrity, implementing the Wellcome Funding Platform, developing Wellcome’s parental leave provision and introducing the policy on bullying, harassment, abuse and harm.
Anne has been at Wellcome since 1998 and in her current role for 17 years. Before joining Wellcome, she held post-doctoral positions in Nottingham and Leicester in the UK working on bacterial toxins. Anne earned her PhD from the University of Nottingham and her first degree in microbiology from Newcastle University.
