Calling all STM Publishers and Industry Associations Today’s researchers recognise the importance of science and research in addressing the critical challenges facing our society. However, despite this awareness, progress on issues such as climate change and equality remains slow, even as the urgency increases. Academic publishers have a pivotal role to play in fostering social responsibility within their own organisations and advocating for sustainability, thereby enhancing the connection between research and society.
In 23 April 2024, STM will host a Societal Impact Day in Washington DC — a satellite event happening the day before the STM US Annual Conference — exploring research’s societal impact and the role of academic publishing in shaping a sustainable future. We know STM members and industry associations are already doing great work in this area and would love to hear about it!
If you have spearheaded a project or initiative with a focus on sustainability, one that has amplified the impact of research in society or improved the sustainability of your organisation or sector, submit your case study and let us celebrate the strides you’ve made in creating a positive and lasting influence.
The top 3 winners, as selected by STM’s Social Responsibility Committee, will be invited to present their initiative as part of an Inspiring Stories panel during STM’s Societal Impact event on 23 April in Washington.
