What is the PubTech Conference?

Publishing is a vital cornerstone in promoting academic research, stimulating technological innovation, and inheriting civilization. It is also an organic vehicle for disseminating innovative achievements and intellectual thoughts. The rapidly evolving technology is also driving revolutionary changes in the publishing industry.

The PubTech Conference is committed to building an international exchange platform for sharing and dialogue among experts and scholars in the publishing and technology fields, leading publishers, and specialists of cutting-edge new technologies. It aims to promote innovative ideas, discuss how to integrate new technologies with the industry, address developmental challenges, and jointly explore the transformation direction of the publishing industry driven by new technologies.

The 3rd PubTech Conference will be held at the Beijing International Convention Center on June 16, 2025. The conference is organized by China National Publications Import and Export (Group) Co., Ltd., co-organized by the Society of China University Journals, and supported by STM, etc. Themed “Publishing’s Future Empowered by Technology.” The conference will focus on current industry concerns such as publishing and integrity driven by technology, corpus construction, and copyright protection. It will conduct in-depth discussions and jointly explore developmental pathways to contribute wisdom to the industry.

What is the STM APAC Conference?

The STM APAC Conference aims to enhance open cooperation between the research and academic publishing communities in the APAC region and the international community.

It is dedicated to strengthening the academic publishing capabilities of APAC and actively promoting the integration of countries/regions in APAC into global open science practices.

The first STM APAC Conference will be held at the Beijing International Convention Center on June 17, 2025. It is co-hosted by the International Association of Scientific, Technical, and Medical Publishers (STM) and China National Publications Import and Export (Group) Co., Ltd. (CNPIEC), co-organized by the Society of China University Journals.  Themed “Open Driven by Innovation”, this conference will focus on the development strategies and innovative practices of open science. It will bring together peers from research institutions, academic publishing houses, and libraries worldwide to jointly discuss the creative development of open science in APAC. The conference will provide a platform for international exchange and collaboration, enhancing global academic communication and improving open sharing.

What can you expect?

  • STM is holding its first APAC conference. It is the first time STM focused on the development of the academic publishing industry in the APAC region. By leveraging the region’s innovative dynamic and drawing upon STM’s advanced experience in academic publishing, the conference aims to empower high-quality development in the field of academic publishing.
  • The PubTech Conference is the only international and series of conferences focusing on the integration and development of publishing and technology at present. The conference has already established a preliminary brand influence among domestic and international industry organizations. The third conference being held this year will focus on academic publishing for the first time. It will provide a platform for industry organizations to share, launch, and collaborate in co-creation, helping them to jointly seize opportunities and meet challenges.
  • Both conferences have invited internationally renowned scholars and industry leaders. With a global perspective, they will interpret the macro policies and trends of open science in APAC, focus on the core concerns of industry development, and explore cross-field cooperation and practices.
  • Both conferences are important innovative activities of the Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF). Through the brand advantage and aggregation effect of the world’s second-largest book fair, BIBF, it brings domestic and international industry organizations, leading experts, and opinion leaders to jointly promote international exchanges in the fields of academic publishing.

Event Terms & Conditions

Cancellation

Where an event has registration fees, cancellations made in writing up to 30 days before an event are eligible for a 50% refund. No refunds can be made for cancellations received on or after 30 days prior to the event date, however, substitutions may be made free of charge at any time.

Insurance

Registration fees do not include insurance. Participants are advised to take out adequate personal insurance to cover travel, accommodation, cancellation and personal effects.
