Academia has long been concerned with the privacy and security of their personnel and students online. Big tech is under pressure to do the same, but their focus is on the consumer web. What happens when web browsers are redesigned to optimize for consumer-type transactions but not for the scholarly web?
In this webinar, we’ll discuss the changes that major browser vendors are making to prevent unsanctioned tracking of people, and how those changes are also impacting authentication and authorization on the web – including access to publications and other scholarly resources.
This webinar follows on from an earlier presentation “Web browsers, privacy, and your publishing platform webinar” and will cover the latest developments including an emerging new technology called Federated Credentials Management (FedCM). We will discuss how FedCM may impact federated authentication in general and SeamlessAccess in particular, and leave ample time for discussions and Q&A.
