8th JST/STM Seminar: Generative artificial intelligence for scholarly communication workflow:

The eighth annual joint seminar of Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) and the International Association of STM Publishers (STM)

Generative artificial intelligence for scholarly communication workflow:
Utilizing generative AI for the advancement of academic journals

Generative artificial intelligence (generative AI) is increasingly being adopted across a wide range of professional fields to enhance and streamline work processes. Within the scholarly communications community, a variety of software tools and services have been introduced to support publishers, academic societies, journal editors, and researchers in improving workflows and ensuring the integrity of published research. In addition to enhancing workflow efficiency, leading international publishers are also using generative AI to improve the discoverability and accessibility of research outputs.

This joint JST/STM virtual seminar—building on previous successful events—will bring together speakers from both Japan and overseas to explore current and potential applications of generative AI across the research publishing lifecycle, from submission and peer review to publication and dissemination. The aim is to support those involved with J-STAGE journals to strengthen their international communication capacity and global impact.
