In 2024, STM designed and deployed a survey around publishing practices to assess representation within STM’s committees, establishing industry benchmarks, and providing best practices for inclusive events and policies.
As the leading voice of academic publishing STM has a responsibility to
ensure it has a diverse membership and provides equal opportunities for
participation across its committees and Board. Understanding and benchmarking
the current levels of diversity across these groups will enable STM to identify gaps
and areas for action.
By sharing this survey with our community we hope other organisations will be able to repeat this process to improve inclusion and diversity in scholarly publishing. STM is deeply committed to creating a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive STM.
