Background

The Guidelines on the scope of the obligations for general-purpose AI (GPAI) models support the practical implementation of the AI Act per Article 96(1) AI Act, and address the following key topics:

• GPAI models, including model lifecycle and downstream modifiers (Section 2);
• Exemptions from transparency obligations for providers of GPAI models released as open-source
  (Section 4); and
• Enforcement of the obligations and effects of signing the Code of Practice (Section 5).
