Our members help advance global scholarship. They publish a wide range of content, from peer-reviewed articles to review articles to conference proceedings to books, while also constantly innovating and evolving technologies and platforms — providing essential services that support the integrity, accessibility and impact of scholarly works.

STM supports our members by advocating internationally on intellectual property issues, helping them stay abreast of technology opportunities and trends, driving innovation and fostering collaboration on key issues in scholarly communication. Through industry initiatives, education and convenings, we also provide a platform for networking and knowledge-sharing.

At STM, our mission is to support and represent the publishers who are pursuing a more inclusive research ecosystem and are working to ensure that reliable research reaches those who need it most, whether they are researchers, policymakers or the public.

Through collaboration, innovation and a commitment to research integrity, STM is helping shape the landscape of scholarly communication and ensure that research continues to move society forward.

• to assist publishers and their authors in their activities in disseminating the results of research in the fields of science, technology and medicine;
• to assist national and international organisations and communications industries in the electronic environment, who are concerned with improving the dissemination, storage and retrieval of scientific, technical and medical information;
• to carry out the foregoing work of the Association in conjunction with the International Publishers Association (IPA) and with the national publishers associations and such other governmental and professional bodies, international and national, who may be concerned with these tasks.
