Publishers play an integral role in ensuring the accessibility and reproducibility of research data through sharing, linking and citing to data alongside publications — and determining the role of research data in the broader research ecosystem.

This is where the STM Research Data Program comes in. 

What we do

Governed by a steering committee consisting of representatives of publishers and other key organizations in Open Science, the STM Research Data Program exists to boost effective sharing of research data. We do that by:

• Sharing best practices and creating resources, policies and shared processes to empower publishers to accelerate research data implementations.
• Organizing learning events (e.g. workshops, webinars), allowing publishers to exchange experiences, tips and lessons learned 
• Leveraging evidence-led, community-driven outputs to increase access to research data  
• Actively participating in discussions on the role of research data in the wider scholarly ecosystem
