He Manchao

He Manchao, Expert in Rock Mechanics of Mine Engineering, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Academician of the Argentinian National Academy of Engineering, Academician of the Russian Academy of Mining Sciences, Professor of the China University of Mining and Technology(Beijing), the Vice Chairman of the International Consortium on Geo-disaster Reduction, the Chairman of the Chinese Society of Rock Mechanics & Engineering, the Chairman of the Open Science Promotion Consortium, the Chairman of the China Mining Science Collaborative Innovation Alliance, the Chairman of The Chinese Union for Mining Intellectual Property. Also awarded: “Science Achievement Award” of the International Consortium on Geo-disaster Reduction (2019), National Award for Excellence in Innovation (2017), National Outstanding Scientific and Technological Talent Award (2016) and Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress of Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation (2014).

He Mainly engaged in the research on the theory and technology of large deformation disaster control of mine rock mass. The theoretical systems of “slow deformation” and “sudden change” large deformation disasters are proposed, several sets of large deformation disaster mechanism experimental systems are developed, and the deep rock mass mechanics laboratory is established. The concept of constant resistance and large deformation anchor (cable) with NPR (negative Poisson’s ratio) effect is put forward, and the series products of constant resistance and large deformation anchor (cable) with negative Poisson’s ratio effect are finalized through experiments, which have been successfully applied to engineering practice and achieved huge economic and social benefits. He also won the Second Prize of National Technological Invention Award (One award), the Second Prize of National Award for Science and Technology Progress (Three awards), Golden Award of Chinese Outstanding Patented Invention (Two awards) and The Technological Innovation Award of ISRM (One award).
