Christina Bennett

Christina Bennett is the Associate Publisher, Ethics and Policy, in the Publications Department of the American Physiological Society, Bethesda, Maryland (www.the-aps.org).  She is responsible for analyzing and addressing the ethics concerns that arise in the 13 peer reviewed original research and review publications published by the Society. Her role also involves providing guidance on scientific best practice in publication ethics and policy. In addition, she has taken a leading role in acquiring NSF funding to develop teaching materials on the topic of publication ethics. These resources have been presented in professional skills training courses and at various science and engineering graduate institutions.

Prior to joining the APS, Christina was a post-doctoral fellow in a breast cancer research laboratory at the National Cancer Institute, NIH, Bethesda, Maryland, and taught human physiology as an Adjunct Professor in the Biology Department at American University, Washington, D.C.  She received her B.S. in Biochemistry/minor in Bioethics at the University of Virginia and her Ph.D. in Molecular and Integrative Physiology at the University of Michigan.
