Catriona Leslie is Research Integrity Auditing Manager at the open access publisher Frontiers.
With a background in Philosophy, she moved into scientific publishing in 2020 and now specialises in large-scale pattern analysis and paper mill identification.
She leads Frontiers’ internal Paper Mill Working Group, which identifies new trends in paper mill submissions and builds workflows and policies to counter them, and is a member of the COPE paper mill working group, SMAPP.
Her research benchmarking paper mill detection tools won best poster at the World Conference on Research Integrity 2026.
