Bao Yiming

Dr. Yiming Bao is the Director of National Genomics Data Center (NGDC), and a professor at China National Center for Bioinformation. His research interests are on biology databases, data mining and analyses, virus genome annotation, and virus evolution and classification. Dr. Bao was a Staff Scientist at the National Center for Biotechnology Information, where he managed the Influenza Virus Resource and the virus classification tool PASC, among other duties on the NCBI viral genome project. At NGDC, Dr. Bao led the team to build a comprehensive omics data resource including dozens of databases, knowledgebases and tools. He was a recipient of the 2006 NIH Merit Award. Dr. Bao is the leader of two projects of the National Key Research and Development Program of China, the Strategic Priority Research Program of Chines Academy of Sciences, and the Open Biodiversity and Health Big Data Programme of IUBS. Dr. Bao is the Chairperson of the Global Biodiversity and Health Big Data Alliance.
