We’re recruiting for a Senior Peer Review Manager who will oversee the operational activities of our specialist journal peer review teams. Role Overview
As the Senior Peer Review Manager, you will oversee IOP Publishing’s journal peer review teams, enabling and empowering them to deliver an efficient and robust peer review experience to our authors. Creating strategies that will allow us to administer the company’s growing share of quality articles, you will prioritise excellent customer service and champion our culture of continuous improvement. You’ll lead, mentor and motivate the peer review teams, balancing and optimising resources within an inclusive and positive working environment.
What will you be doing?
Key job accountabilities include:
- Manage, motivate and develop the peer review teams;
- Drive and champion change within the teams and allocate resources appropriately;
- Develop and deliver the peer review strategy in line with the KPIs;
- Deliver outstanding service to our stakeholders.
About you:
Successful applicants should demonstrate the following:
- Experience of managing a team;
- Demonstrable editorial experience within an academic publishing setting;
- Strong knowledge of peer review processes and varieties;
- Ability to lead and motivate others;
- Strong interpersonal skills;
- Excellent planning and prioritisation skills;
- Experience of resource allocation, project management and continuous improvement would be desirable, but not essential.

Flexible Working:
The contractual location of this role is our Bristol office, but we have recently moved to a hybrid working model with a dynamic and blended combination of office and remote working, dependent on business and team requirements. As there will not be a requirement for the person in this role to be in the office on a weekly basis, we are open to considering applicants from a wide geographical area who are happy to travel to Bristol once a month, subject to business needs.
