As a member of the Researcher Engagement Team, the Researcher Experience Manager will partner with colleagues in customer insights, audience engagement, and technology to establish the organization’s researcher experience strategy and drive execution.

If you’re interested in delighting researchers, improving peer review, crafting a seamless submission process, and working in an entrepreneurial, cross-functional environment, we want to hear from you! Candidates should apply by Sunday, June 30, for consideration.

The interview process will take place throughout the month of July. Selected candidates will be invited to a 90-minute first-round interview; finalists will be asked to complete a short task, a 15-minute call with the Director of People & Culture, and a 60-minute second-round interview.

As the Researcher Experience Manager, you will:

  • Craft a researcher experience strategy in partnership with publishing, marketing, and technology stakeholders to operationalize voice-of-customer insights and deliver value to researchers in the AIPP ecosystem.
  • Be a leading voice in AIPP’s peer review experience strategy, driving reviewer initiatives, improving the author experience in the cascade program, optimizing peer review system workflows, and improving value delivery during the peer review and publication processes.
  • Serve as our resident expert on peer review and researcher needs, staying up to date on industry trends and competitor offerings and ensuring AIPP is at the forefront of researcher experience innovation.
  • Connect researcher experience initiatives to business outcomes. Measure the efficacy of researcher experience initiatives through reporting on trends in time to publication, net promoter score, and other metrics related to customer/user experience.

We’re looking for:

  • In-depth knowledge of peer review systems, models, and emerging innovations. You’re curious, engaged with the industry, and excited to leverage those insights to build a strategy.
  • 2+ years’ experience leading cross-functional projects. You are an exceptional collaborator with strong analytical and project management skills. A project management certification and experience with vendor management is a plus.
  • A bias toward action and technology optimism. You have an entrepreneurial mindset and enjoy using technology to solve problems. Familiarity with collaboration and project management software, ticketing systems, CRMs, Smartsheet, and generative AI tools such as ChatGPT is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 2-6 times per year for in-person meetings and industry conferences.
