What will you be doing?

IOP Publishing is going through a period of change and innovation with ambitious goals for serving the global physical sciences research community.

In this crucial new role, you will own the delivery of a project that will contribute directly to our strategic goals. You will have the opportunity to influence decisions along the way and you’ll be helping more people discover knowledge in the physical sciences.

You will be incredibly motivated, highly organised and an excellent communicator. With a high level of emotional intelligence, you will get the best out of people, winning their trust and facilitating them to deliver high quality, on time, on budget product and technical integration.

Comfortable working across teams and blending different project management methods, you will manage internal and external stakeholders, ensure they are kept up-to-date on progress and that the project is successfully delivered within scope.

Key job accountabilities include:

  • Managing operational processes using agreed project management methods
  • Coordinating a project team that spans multiple areas of the business, managing meetings and outputs, tracking actions and maintaining project pace.
  • Managing and tracking delivery timelines, reporting progress and maintaining high quality documentation
  • Working closely with internal stakeholders and effectively managing external stakeholder relationships
  • Providing regular internal communications to a range of audiences
  • Co-ordinating different types of project meetings, including workshops

About you:

Successful applicants should demonstrate the following:

  • Experience of working in a multi-modal project delivery environment (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall) is essential backed up with a relevant project management qualification (required)
  • Experience in Publishing, with an understanding of the peer review process (desired)
  • Experience of managing a team of technical leads and product owners to bring about technical integration between products (required)
  • Excellent stakeholder & vendor management skills (required)
  • A high degree of autonomy & a pro-active approach to problem solving
  • Excellent communication
  • Highly organised and capable of juggling multiple priorities

Flexible Working:

As there will not be a requirement for the person in this role to be in the office on a weekly basis, we are open to considering applicants from a wider geographical area who are happy to travel to Bristol for meetings around once per month, subject to business needs.
