STM would like to warmly welcome you to join us once again for our STM Annual Dinner & Conference in Frankfurt on October 17 & 18th, 2022.
What’s this? STM’s annual Frankfurt conference has established itself as the ‘sell-out’ event prior to the Frankfurt Book Fair (this year, scheduled for October 19 – 23). Attracting the leading figures from scholarly and professional publishing, STM’s event provides a program focused on strategic thinking, public policy, business models, and key drivers shaping the future of the STM industry.
A not-to-be-missed event for publishing managers, executives, and industry leaders, the STM Frankfurt Conference is an unrivaled networking opportunity, which attracts international attendees from all sizes of publishing organisations. Here, together, we find bold, new ways to champion change and improvement that advances research.
What to expect? First, a welcoming dinner on the evening of Monday, October 17th affords us a chance to connect in person (at last!) and network. Tuesday, October 18th offers a potent line-up of speakers, sessions, and ample opportunities for collaboration and connections.
What to do now? Register now and prepare for a memorable two days together. Consider sponsoring this event to garner visibility for your organisation among highly engaged STM attendees.
Individual spaces are available for purchase with your conference registration or separately if you are unable to attend the conference.
The dinner will take place in the Liberty Ballroom at the Hilton Frankfurt City Centre and includes a welcome drinks reception, superb 3-course meal, wine, and coffee.

Making Global Local For publishing to be a truly inclusive and global endeavor, publishers — irrespective of location and language — need to be aware of and engaged with regional priorities. With a shift to open access, the author is in many ways more the customer of a journal than the reader. How can publishers better serve the needs of diverse authors throughout the world? This session brings together regional experts from Latin America, China, India, and the African continent to highlight trends, policies, and priorities vital to STM researchers in local geographies. Innovation in Scientific Communication Innovation comes in many shapes and forms. In this session, we explore experiments with, and implementations of, new models to progress scholarly communications. Some of our speakers have innovated around business models, while others have pursued new models that impact the scholarly communications process itself. Join us to hear the latest and to let us know what models your organization is exploring! Niamh O’Connor, Chief Publishing Officer, Public Library of Science (PLOS) |

Embracing Open Research The open research movement has been growing in strength over the past two decades; in recent years, the pace of change has increased. Funders, institutions, and publishers are increasingly mandating or encouraging various open practices from data management and availability, to open methods and even transparent peer review. This session will showcase some of the initiatives that publishers are involved with and will explore how to prepare for the next frontier of open research.
