Jasper Simons

Jasper Simons, Chief Publishing Officer, American Psychological Association (APA)

I’m passionate about publishing and deeply committed to advancing the interests of our global community. I’m excited about the opportunity to serve on the STM Board and contribute to solutions that support all publishers, especially in times of change and disruption.

As Chief Publishing Officer at the American Psychological Association (APA), I lead a diverse publishing program that includes 89 journals; professional, academic, and children’s books; the PsycInfo research platform; higher education solutions; and APA Style. Our work supports researchers, clinicians, and psychology professionals around the world.

Under my leadership, APA Publishing has earned a global reputation in the social and behavioral sciences, and beyond. We’ve championed Open Science practices, rigorous research standards, and inclusive approaches that reflect our commitment to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.

With more than 25 years of experience in scholarly and professional publishing, I’ve held leadership roles at Reed Elsevier (now RELX), SAGE Publications, and Thomson Reuters (now Clarivate). I’ve served on STM’s Standards & Technology Executive Committee (STEC), participated in the Future Lab, and I continue to mentor new talent in the STM field.

I also serve on the Board of Directors of the Association of American Publishers (AAP), contributing to its audit committee. Previously, I chaired the Crossref Board, and I’ve spoken at STM, SIIA, CESSE, and the Council of Scientific Society Presidents meetings.
