Graham Hobbs

After graduating in 1976, Graham Hobbs started his career in mail order bookselling with B.H. Blackwell Ltd. He transferred to Blackwell Scientific Publications Ltd in 1978, where he joined their production department looking after a group of journals in the Earth Sciences. He was promoted to Journals Finance Manager and Print Buyer in 1980. He left Blackwell’s in 1987 to join Carfax Publishing Company as Publisher for their list of Education journals. After various mergers and takeovers involving Routledge and Taylor & Francis, Graham was made Editorial Director of the Routledge Education Journals in 1999, a post he still holds today. Graham also teaches Journal Finance on the Masters in Publishing course at Oxford Brookes University and is a regular attendee and speaker at ‘Careers in Publishing’ events. He occasionally gives talks and workshops on ‘Publishing in Academic Journals: tips on how to succeed’ at conferences in all subject areas.
