Matt Chan

Matt Chan joined the American Chemical Society in August 2022 as Vice President of Global Marketing, ACS Publications. Matt is responsible for defining, refining, and implementing marketing strategies to engage target audiences with ACS’ portfolio of journals, and a growing range of research-centric products and services.

Prior to ACS, Matt was Senior Vice President of Global Marketing at Wiley where he led all aspects of the global marketing lifecycle for its portfolio of over 1,700 academic journals and helped to launch the Partner Solutions business.

Before Wiley, Matt held senior marketing positions – helping industry-leading companies launch new products and services, enter new geographic markets, increase market share, and create indelible brands – at Gartner (a global research and advisory company providing insights and tools to the C-suite), Rosetta Stone (a language-learning solutions provider for individuals, enterprises, and schools), Carfax (an information services provider in the automative resell market), Software AG (a German multinational software company of enterprise integration and IoT solutions), and Hobsons (an education technology company of college and career planning, admissions, and student success solutions).

Matt’s early career included strategy consulting at Mercer Management Consulting and product development and management at GE (General Electric).

Matt is an alumna of Harvard University (MBA), Johns Hopkins University (MS, Computer Science), and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (BS, Computer and Systems Engineering).
