Publishing Engagement Manager – Japan

Overview

Location: Tokyo (Hybrid working will be considered)

Salary: 5.5 million – 7.5 million JPY

Benefits include: 15 days paid holiday per annum, increasing to 23 days with length of service

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Publishing team in Japan as a Publishing Engagement Manager.

The role

As Publishing Engagement Manager, you will be a key representative for publishing activities in Japan and South Korea supporting our strategic objectives and developments, becoming a trusted advisor to the community.

Your objectives will be to increase awareness of the RSC publishing programme by building relationships with scientists, academic institutions, and scientific societies to develop the best authorship and readership for RSC publications.

Skills and qualifications

  • M.Sc. in a scientific field and Ph.D. or studying towards
  • Fluent in Japanese and English, knowledge of Korean is desirable
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to work as part of a global team, with a willingness to travel nationally and internationally
  • Good organisational and time-management skills are required together with the ability to work autonomously, under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Up-to-date knowledge of and passion for the chemical sciences and publishing and contacts with the relevant communities
  • Experience in, or knowledge of, Scientific, Technical & Medical publishing and an understanding of the Japanese education system is also desirable
