Conrad Wolfram

Conrad Wolfram, physicist and mathematician, is strategic director and European co-founder of the Wolfram group of companies.
Wolfram Research specialises in pushing the boundaries of computation, math, and knowledge, including making Mathematica software, Wolfram|Alpha knowledge engine and Computable Document Format (CDF).

Conrad’s instigation and leadership of business and technical initiatives has been central to many key innovations in the technical computing industry–including leading efforts to democratize computation through automation and interactivity. He argues that this direction will be increasingly important as science and mathematics continue to gain significance for everyday living; and that in turn this fundamentally changes how we should teach maths.

To this end, he founded computerbasedmath.org, and has given a widely viewed TED talk on rethinking math education from the ground up.

Conrad was educated at Eton College, and University of Cambridge, UK from which he holds degrees in natural sciences and maths.
