Jabe Wilson

Jabe Wilson is the Global Commercial Director, Data & Analytics for Corporate R&D Markets at Elsevier. He has a background in Artificial Intelligence (AI), which he has been working with for 30 years.

Since the late 1990s he has worked on a wide range of innovative projects instrumental in driving the transformation of Elsevier from an established scientific print publisher through to its transition into a predominantly digital information analytics company.  Projects include: Elsevier’s first electronic reference books; early collaborative social networks in biomedical science with BioMedNet; the indexing for adverse drug reactions with the creation of Pharmapendium.com; development of early semantic knowledge bases for therapeutic drug design, introduction of adaptive learning courses into the National Health Service in the UK with Elsevier Clinical Skills; and, developing the semantic search product Elsevier Text Mining.

More recently he has worked on refining Elsevier’s AI and Semantic Data capabilities and organized a Datathon Challenge to investigate Repurposing Drugs to treat Rare Diseases using the new platform in collaboration with the Pharma Pre-competitive group the Pistoia Alliance, along with not-for-profit organizations CuresWithinReach and Mission-Cure the outcomes of which were featured in the 2019 RELX annual report.

Michael F. Huerta

Dr. Huerta has led many trans-NIH programs advancing team science, interdisciplinary research, and large-scale, open, digital biomedical research and technology initiatives including the NIH Human Connectome Project, the NIH National Database for Autism Research, and the US Human Brain Project, which helped create and establish the field of Neuroinformatics.

Today he is advancing, developing and harmonizing aspects of data science and open science across NIH through a variety of roles including as chair of standing trans-NIH task forces and coordinating committees. He is also providing strategic leadership to realizing the future of National Library of Medicine as a platform for biomedical discovery and data-powered health.

Dr. Huerta’s research background is in systems neuroscience; his undergraduate and doctoral work was completed at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, he was an NIH postdoctoral fellow at Vanderbilt University, and on the faculty of the University of Connecticut Health Center before joining NIH’s National Institute of Mental Health in 1991 and moving to the National Library of Medicine in 2011. 

Cory Wiegert

Cory Wiegert is the Chief Executive Officer of CancerLinQ, LLC, and Executive Vice President of ASCO.

He joined ASCO in 2018 and brings to his role extensive expertise in building and launching innovative technology solutions for healthcare. Mr. Wiegert previously served as Vice President of Product Management for IBM Watson Health, leading the successful launch of major projects, including IBM’s first cloud-based offerings in healthcare.

He also managed the first effort to implement Watson technologies in an FDA-regulated quality management system.

Prior to joining IBM, Mr. Wiegert was Vice President of Product Management at Sterling Commerce, where he led the end-to-end product strategy and lifecycle of their selling and fulfillment software suite.

He also served at Siebel Systems, where he was responsible for the implementation and design of their sales force automation, call center, integration technology, and analytic solutions. Mr. Wiegert has also held positions with Centura Software Corporation and Safety-Kleen.

Julie Gill

Julie Gill is Vice President and General Manager of AMA Ed Hub at the American Medical Association. Dedicated to lifelong professional development, Julie leads the strategy and operations of AMA Ed Hub, an innovative new education delivery platform connecting physicians and health care professionals with trusted educational products and services to help them stay current, improve care and achieve better outcomes for patients.

Julie has been with the AMA for 14 years and has served in strategic, product development and membership marketing roles.

Prior to the AMA, Julie worked at JP Morgan Chase on change management initiatives and at Aon Hewitt managing pension system implementations.

Julie holds a BBA from the University of Michigan Business School and an MBA from Loyola University Chicago Quinlan School of Business.

Steve Leicht

Steve serves as the President and a Board Director of Digital Science Research Solutions Inc., based in Cambridge Massachusetts. He is a Board Director and Officer of Digital Science Research Solutions Limited based in London, and he is a Board Director and co-founder of the Dimensions business, now Digital Science GmBH, based in Cologne Germany.

Prior to his current role, Steve served as acting CEO of 52Inc, a mobile software company where Steve is a co-founder and investor.  Prior to 52Inc., Steve was the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Collexis Holdings, which was acquired by Reed Elsevier in 2010. While at Collexis, he had a leadership role in private fundraising, two acquisitions, the public offering of the company, the expansion of Collexis into Latin America and Asia, and the reorganization of Collexis European businesses.

Prior to Collexis, Steve served in roles of continually increasing responsibility with IBM Corporation in sales, business development, emerging technology, and general management. Prior to IBM, Steve started, ran, and sold International Telecommunications Distributors and served as Chairman and CEO of the company. He has a Master’s in Business Administration from The Pennsylvania State University’s Smeal College of Business, where he served as President of his class. He received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Bucknell. Steve serves on boards and committees for several companies and industry groups and is a regular speaker on semantic and mobile technologies in discovery and social collaboration. He lives with his wife and two children in Lexington, South Carolina.

Marianne Calilhanna

Marianne Calilhanna, VP Marketing, Data Conversion Laboratory

Marianne is a content and technology professional with 30+ years of marketing, editorial, product development, publishing, and change management experience. She is an active member in the Society for Scholarly Publishing and currently serves as co-chair on the marketing and communications committee and  a planning committee member on the  SSP Philadelphia regional committee. At Data Conversion Laboratory she creates meaningful marketing events and collateral, detailing the importance of content and data structure to facilitate the distribution of content across modern technologies and platforms.

Alix Vance

Alexandra (Alix) Vance, CEO of AIP Publishing, has spent more than 20 years driving growth for innovative academic, scholarly, and professional publishing organizations.

Before joining AIP Publishing in 2020, Alix was CEO of GeoScienceWorld, a leading nonprofit publisher of books, journals, and data in the Earth Sciences and partner to nearly 30 publishing organizations.

She has held executive and advisory roles in nonprofit, commercial, and startup organizations in publishing and technology services, including at SAGE and eBookLibrary.

Alix serves as the current chair of the Board of Directors of CHORUS. Alix is passionately interested in product and service development to meet emerging customer needs and is equally committed to transforming organizational models and culture. Alix is a graduate of Wellesley College with a master’s degree in social work and post-graduate training in clinical psychotherapy.

Lisa McAllister

Lisa McAllister is the Vice-President of Professional Publishing and has been with Wolters Kluwer for more than 25 years.

Lisa currently leads the content teams for Medical Education and Training books, as well as the WK Spanish Language program and the AudioDigest Continuing Medical Education content team.  

She has spent most of her career working with various types of referential and subscription-based content in medicine, formerly as a Clinics Editor, Acquisition Editor, Director of Digital Strategy—Medicine, and then Publisher. 

The Medicine teams under Lisa’s guidance are charged with the publication of cutting edge clinical and referential content and the deployment of that content in print and digital platforms. 

Lisa holds a B.S. in English and Technical Writing from The Pennsylvania State University.  Prior to joining Wolters Kluwer, she spent several years with the W. B. Saunders Company (now Elsevier). 

Claudia Russo

Claudia Russo joined STM as Regional Manager Public Affairs for Europe in April 2020. She is based in Brussels, and supports STM and its membership in gathering political intelligence, developing public affairs strategies and liaising with European institutions and stakeholders. Claudia had been supporting STM and other right holders organisations as an external consultant since 2018, while specialising in digital issues. She holds a Bachelor Degree in International and Diplomatic Sciences from the University of Trieste and a Master’s Degree in European Public Affairs from the University of Maastricht.
