Amy Doffegnies is Content Acquisition Editor for F1000, working on growing the social sciences and humanities publishing programme for the European Commission’s platform, Open Research Europe.
She has a PhD from the University of New South Wales, Australia, which focused on Buddhism and human rights discourse in Myanmar.
Gearóid Ó Faoleán is a Publisher at F1000, responsible for the strategy and growth of HSS research outputs across F1000’s platforms.
He previously worked for eight years at Frontiers as a journal manager before heading up their research integrity program.
Gearóid holds a PhD in modern Irish history, has a particular interest in oral history, and will shortly be publishing his second scholarly book on the ‘Troubles’.
Sara Bosshart is Head of Open Access Journals at the Royal Society of Chemistry where she is responsible for driving the growth of Open Access and Open Science across the organization.
Previously, Sara was Open Access Publisher at IWA Publishing where she successfully transitioned the entire portfolio of 15 water-related journals to Open Access through a variety of different OA models including Subscribe to Open, Read & Publish, and APC.
Originally a marine geologist, Sara began her career in publishing at Frontiers where she helped to launch a suite of new OA journals in the Life Sciences and spearheaded the launch of the Frontiers London offices.
Anna Troise is the Chief Commercial Officer for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, a non-profit medical association representing more than 38,000 orthopaedic surgeons and allied health professionals. Anna is responsible for the Academy’s publishing, live events, product development and industry sales team – having evolved the traditional Association education portfolio into an integrated offering of high-quality content that captures customers’ needs in a personalized, relevant manner. Anna is an energetic, effective leader who enjoys helping organizations deliver results through developing dynamic working environments that inspire change, rethink the status quo, solve problems, and, have fun.
Prior to joining the Academy, Anna served as Vice President, Medical and Open Access Publishing at Wolters Kluwer where she managed the U.S., U.K. and European medical journal publishing program.
Anna has a bachelor’s degree from Bates College and a master’s degree in business administration from New York University’s Stern School of Business.
Kayla Dos Santos is a Senior Acquisitions Editor at Elsevier and has been responsible for the Electronic. Magnetic and Optical Materials Science & Engineering books portfolio for the past 6 years.
She began her career in publishing 11 years ago as an Editorial Assistant at the health science textbook publisher Jones & Bartlett Learning.
At Jones & Bartlett she served as an Associate Acquisitions Editor responsible for commissioning content for physical therapy, exercise science and other related disciplines. At Elsevier, she is currently responsible for managing a number of book series and society partnerships such as the Elsevier and SPIE Photonic Materials and Applications books content collaboration, Nanophotonics book series, Metal Oxides book series, and Acta Materialia book series.
In 2020, she had the honor to serve as 1 of 2 managers for the summer editorial books internship program at Elsevier jointly sponsored by the Association of American Publishers (AAP) and the United Negro College Fund (UNCF).
Kattie has been at Elsevier for 15 years and is currently an Acquisitions Editor managing the Toxicology, Virology, and Parasitology book portfolios. She also commissions Biotechnology titles for the Biochemistry portfolio.
She graduated from Boston University with a Bachelors in English and History and obtained her Masters in Publishing and Writing from Emerson College, also in Boston, Massachusetts.
Throughout her time at Elsevier, she has held positions in both books and journals. Prior to her current role, Kattie was a Senior Editorial Project Manager shepherding books through the development process for Engineering titles and in editorial administrative roles for Cell Press early in her publishing career.
From 2018-2020, she served as a mentor to Elsevier interns as part of a 10-week program jointly sponsored by the Association of American Publishers (AAP) and the United Negro College Fund (UNCF).
Robert grew up in New Jersey, United States, and attended Lynchburg College of Virginia, graduating cum laude with high department honors in International Relations, after studying abroad at the American University of Paris in 1989 and the Washington Center for Academic Internships in Washington, D.C. , also in 1989. He came to Japan on the JET Program in 1990, remaining here and eventually earning his doctorate in Political Science from Kobe University in 1999. After a post-doctoral fellowship at the Suntory Foundation, he subsequently became a tenured associate professor at Osaka University, and has served as a visiting professor or researcher at Ryukyu University, Hokkaido University, Hosei University, and Okinawa International University, among other universities and institutes. He is an award-winning author of many works on Japanese foreign policy and politics and is an active volunteer in his community and field. He served for two decades as a council member for the Asiatic Society of Japan. With his wife and two children, he continues to reside in Hyogo Prefecture, where he has spent most of his three decades in Japan. He joined Taylor & Francis in 2021. He loves traveling, photography, and going for walks with his dog, Beau.
Samuel Goodchild is a Publisher at Springer Nature working within the Open Access journals group out of Heidelberg, Germany. Sam started his publishing career at Springer Nature in 2018, working on books and journals in Earth Science, having worked in a number of varied professions from engineering geology to teaching. He advises on, guides and develops a mix open access and hybrid journals in Life and Environmental Sciences. He has been involved with the STM association’s Early Career Publishers Committee (ECPC) since 2021 and is currently sits on the STM Board as the ECPC representative. Since 2019 he has been a co-chair of SN Women an employee network dedicated to gender DE&I. He graduated from the University of Auckland, New Zealand, with an MSc In Geology, BSc in Biology and Geology and a BA in English.
Dianne Benham is an independent product management consultant who is responsible for product at Get Full Text Research (GetFTR). Dianne was the inaugural team member, tasked by a consortium of scholarly publishers to build a team to develop and launch GetFTR.
Dianne has extensive experience delivering B2B solutions for her publishing clients at Springer Nature, Retail Week, Nursing Times, and Condé Nast. Several of her products have achieved ‘best new product of the year’ awards, including Retail Week Prospect, Nursing Times eLearning, and WGSN INstock.
Dianne has an MBA and BSc in Computer Science.
Ana Marušić is Professor of Anatomy and Chair of the Department of Research in Biomedicine and Health at the University of Split School of Medicine, Split, Croatia.
Since 2012, she is an Honorary Professor of Edinburgh University, UK. She has been the Editor in Chief of the Croatian Medical Journal for 20 years and is now Co-editor in Chief of the Journal of Global Health.
Prof. Marušić has been the President of the World Association of Medical Editors, Council of Science Editors, and European Association of Science Editors. She currently serves on the Council of the Committee on Publication Ethics.
