Todd Carpenter

Todd Carpenter joined the National Information Standards Organization (NISO) in 2006 as Executive Director. In this role, Todd leads the association in the development and maintenance of standards that facilitate the creation, persistent management, discovery, and effective interchange of information in publishing and media.

Over the course of his career, he has served in a variety of roles that connect the publisher, library, and software communities.

Prior to joining NISO, Todd was Director of Business Development with BioOne. He has also held management positions at The Johns Hopkins University Press, the Energy Intelligence Group, and the Haworth Press. He has served the community on the Board of Directors of the Society for Scholarly Publishing, the Book Industry Study Group, FORCE11, the Coalition for SeamlessAccess, the Baltimore County Public Library Foundation, and currently serves as Chair of the ISO Technical Subcommittee on Identification and Description (ISO TC46/SC 9).

He is a regular contributor to the Scholarly Kitchen and is currently writing a book on the role of metadata in our daily lives.
