Simran Kang
Simran Kang is an early career publishing professional at BMJ Group, where she has spent the past four years working across scholarly publishing, progressing from Publishing Assistant to Content Development Specialist. During this time, she has developed a strong understanding of journal publishing and a keen interest in the evolving challenges and opportunities shaping the industry.
In her current role, she works closely with editors, authors, and publishers to support journal development and improve editorial processes. Alongside her core responsibilities, she has developed expertise in research integrity and diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), recognising their importance in maintaining trust in scholarly communication. She is particularly interested in how AI is reshaping scholarly publishing, from research integrity challenges posed by fabricated manuscripts and fraudulent peer review to broader changes in how readers discover research and how publishers measure engagement.
She has contributed to initiatives that strengthen research integrity, including piloting content integrity tools and workflows to support editorial decision-making. Simran has also been involved in the ongoing development of BMJ’s Equitable Research Policy, contributing to efforts to embed more inclusive and equitable research practices. These experiences have strengthened her commitment to innovation grounded in fairness and continuous improvement.
