Gengyan Tang

Gengyan Tang is a PhD candidate at the Werklund School of Education, University of Calgary.

His research primarily examines paper mills in China as an issue in the sociology of science, focusing on how they are embedded in China’s higher education system, for example, by operating through networks of personal relationships.

He also studies how paper mills, as well as commercial companies engaged in a broader range of academic misconduct, use online platforms such as e-commerce sites and social media to conduct their operations.
