Bablu Sutradhar
Dr. Bablu Sutradhar currently serves as the Librarian of the Central Library at IIT Kharagpur, one of Asia’s leading technical libraries, and as the Joint Principal Investigator (Jt. PI) of the National Digital Library of India (NDLI), a flagship initiative of the Ministry of Education, Government of India. He possesses an interdisciplinary academic background with degrees in Library and Information Science, Bioscience, and a Ph.D. Under his leadership, the Central Library at IIT Kharagpur became the first IIT library to receive ISO 9001:2008 and converted to ISO 9001:2015 certification. He has played a key role in transforming NDLI into a major digital learning platform providing universal access to educational resources. Dr. Sutradhar has also been instrumental in establishing over 7,000 NDLI Clubs across India to promote activity based digital learning. Committed to professional development, he has organized several international conferences, symposiums, workshops, and training programmes on digital libraries benefiting thousands of library professionals. A prolific academic, he has authored more than 44 publications and delivered over 100 invited lectures. His contributions have been recognized through prestigious awards, including the ILA-KAULA Best Librarian Award (2023), and the Staff Excellent Award at IIT Kharagpur (2025).
