JOINAlison Taylor
As Chief Publishing Officer at Optica, Alison Taylor leads the organization’s publishing strategy and operations, building on more than 20 years of experience in scholarly publishing. Her career has been dedicated to mission-driven, nonprofit society publishers, beginning as a scientific editor for Physical Review B at the American Physical Society after earning a PhD in Physics from Heriot-Watt University in the UK. She later held leadership roles at AIP Publishing before joining Optica as Executive Editor and subsequently becoming Chief Publishing Officer.
Throughout her career, Alison has worked at the intersection of publishing innovation, research integrity, open access and licensing, and public policy. At Optica, she has helped advance a global publishing program that combines the agility and innovation of a society publisher with a strong commitment to serving the international research community.
She has also contributed to the broader scholarly publishing community through service on the Council of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the STM Open Research Committee. She brings the perspective of a nonprofit society publisher, together with experience spanning editorial, publishing, and policy leadership, and a strong commitment to advancing trusted, innovative, and collaborative scholarly communication.
