Ralf Schimmer

Dr. Ralf Schimmer is Wiley’s Senior Director of Government Partnerships and Public Policy. In this role, he works with a range of stakeholders to inform policy and direction in Wiley’s transition to open access, leads strategy workshops with partners and customers, runs thought leadership events from Wiley’s Innovation Lab in Berlin, and supports Wiley in building, expanding, and maintaining relations with government and other policymakers.

Previously, Ralf served as Director of Scientific Information at the Max Planck Digital Library, where he led the organization’s strategy for more than two decades and helped drive Germany’s leadership in open access research. He has a social science background with a Ph.D. from the Free University of Berlin.
