Research Integrity, Transparency and Editorial Practice
Artificial intelligence is rapidly becoming part of the research and publishing ecosystem, transforming how research is conducted, manuscripts are prepared, and editorial and peer review processes are managed. As these technologies become more capable and widely adopted, maintaining trust in scientific research and the scholarly record becomes increasingly important. Building on the previous J-STAGE seminar, which explored practical applications of generative AI across scholarly publishing workflows, this seminar examines the next stage of AI adoption: ensuring that innovation is accompanied by transparency and research integrity.
Bringing together international and Japanese perspectives from across the scholarly communications community, the seminar will examine how editors, reviewers, researchers, publishers and scholarly societies can respond to the opportunities and challenges presented by the growing use of AI. As AI becomes an increasingly accepted part of the research lifecycle, the focus is shifting from whether AI should be used to how it can be used responsibly while maintaining confidence in research and published scholarship. The seminar will explore emerging approaches to governance, editorial practice and community standards that support transparency and research integrity, while enabling the responsible adoption of AI and strengthening trust in scientific research and scholarly communication.

Cancellation
Where an event has registration fees, cancellations made in writing up to 30 days before an event are eligible for a 50% refund. No refunds can be made for cancellations received on or after 30 days prior to the event date, however, substitutions may be made free of charge at any time.
