Carlos Toro
Dr. Carlos Toro is a seasoned publishing leader with more than a decade of experience in scholarly communications and journal management. He currently serves as Associate Publisher at ACS Publications, where he provides strategic and operational leadership for a portfolio of scientific journals. In this role, he drives portfolio growth, oversees new journal launches, manages editorial transitions, and ensures fiscal responsibility, all while advancing the society’s mission to disseminate high-quality research. Dr. Toro earned his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from La Universidad del Zulia in Maracaibo, Venezuela, and completed his Ph.D. in Chemistry at the University of Central Florida in 2010. He later served as the Ellen D. Williams Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Maryland. During his tenure at ACS Publications, he has managed a diverse portfolio of titles in optics and photonics, materials science, and environmental science and sustainability.
