Opening and Welcome - Hylke Koers, Chief Information Officer, STM Solutions Keynote: Prof. Elena Simperl, Professor of Computer Science, King’s College London. This talk was not generated with ChatGPT: how AI is changing science While some say AI has reached its iPhone moment with the launch of ChatGPT a year ago, scientists have been using it in some form for decades, for instance to analyse large amounts of data, review topics and trends in an area of interest, or search for datasets. The latest wave of AI raises new questions about the scientific code of practice, and about how scientists, like virtually any professional group, should use the new capabilities responsibly. At the same time, we need to understand how to design scientific AI tools that create meaningful user experiences and allow scientists to rely on AI appropriately in their daily work. |
