Mark Walford
In 32 years in academic publishing Mark Walford has worked for four publishers in a variety of roles across journal publishing. Mark joined SAGE in 1996 and has played a small part in its growth into a major publisher. His role at SAGE is a portfolio one, combining responsibility for global rights and licensing, contracts and copyright with public affairs and acquisitions. For a number of years, he has chaired the UK PA Serial Publishers Executive (during the debates around the development of the UK government Finch report on open access). Mark also sat on the PA Copyright Committee and the ALPSP Training Committee. He is an active member of the STM Intellectual Property Committee. Mark is very familiar with the issues facing our industry and unapologetic about its vital importance. He is married, with a teenage son. A chemist by training, he is a keen climber and student of European history.
