Deirdre Silver
As Executive Vice President and General Counsel, Deirdre Silver serves as a key member of Wiley’s Executive Leadership Team, guiding the company’s active role in: advocating for the copyright and free expression protections essential to the global publishing industry; advancing authorship, science, and education – both in the United Stated and around the globe; and championing Wiley’s mission to unlock human potential.
Over her 19 years at Wiley, Deirdre has served as Associate General Counsel, VP of Legal for Research and a member of the Research Leadership Team as well as Legal Director of Professional & Trade/Professional Development and Legal Director of Higher Education. Previously, she served as General Counsel and SVP of Legal and Business Affairs at Sekani, Inc., and she started her career as an intellectual property attorney at Proskauer.
Deirdre serves on the board of the Copyright Clearance Center and is active in the industry’s trade associations including serving as a member of the Intellectual Property Committee of STM and the Copyright Law and Policy Committee and the Competition Policy Working Group of the Association of American Publishers. She earned her undergraduate degree in government at Cornell University and her law degree at New York University School of Law.
