Business Lead China and Southeast Asia (100%)
The Business Lead – China and Southeast Asia will have oversight of all business activities across China and Southeast Asia, and will be responsible for the day to day management of the BDMs. Focus for this role will either be region or sector specific according to the candidate, but overall responsibility to drive growth across all sectors including Academia, Industry, Societies, Gov’t and Healthcare. A rich portfolio of customers and clients, developed over the past 3+ years, leaves the incumbent with an opportunity to develop all existing & new accounts by taking the best of what has been achieved to further expanding local partnerships and revenue, thus ensuring growth across the complete PACS portfolio.
This multifaceted role includes:
- Adaptation and implementation of the China and Southeast-Asia wide strategy in the context of the Karger sic! strategy, underpinned by the Karger-wide PACS portfolio and RO 2.0 strategy in close co-operation with Karger Basel
- Annual focus for Access (subscription) renewal customers, with a view to develop & diversify revenue according to their institutional research priorities and strategies, as well as supporting Kargers shift to Open Access
- Grow the current Karger ecosystem, by engaging with our known network and activating those across the Academia, Gov’t Research, Hospitals & Healthcare and Industry to ensure our reach is extended beyond our current reach
- Identify, activate and maintain relationships with KOL’s from across the Medical Research landscape
- Plan and maintain an efficient travel schedule for site visits; 50% of working month should be spent visiting customers in China (when conditions allow)
- Arrange and Participate in academia, industry and researcher events and conferences. Identify new opportunities and audiences to present the Karger sic! strategy / PACS portfolio
- Work with Business Units, including ARM, CPM, ED and SIV to develop customer-centric strategy for growing business based on our Explorative, Growth and Focus matrix
- Drive awareness and generate financial support opportunities for Karger publications (advertising, sponsorship and supplement issues), while driving outreach programmes and article submissions growth through local Call for Paper activities with Academia, Gov’t, Hospital and Industry Researchers
- Support publishing / editorial opportunities and projects across China and Southeast Asia in the context of Karger’s portfolio
Qualification and experience required:
- College degree
- Miller Heiman training / experience seen as a benefit
- Publishing / Medical industry sales experience is desirable
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in B2B environment
- Microsoft Office / 365, Salesforce.com
- Language skills: English
- Professional multi-tasker with an entrepreneurial spirit
- Strong commercial and business acumen, and can work well under pressure to meet deadlines and deliver KPI’s
- Excellent written communication skills, and strong presentation skills
