Michael Diepenbroek

Michael Diepenbroek is a Geologist and Computer Scientist. In 1990 he obtained a Master in Geology and in 1992 a PhD in Geology at the Free University of Berlin. Research fields in geology included sediment transport processes, statistics, and image analysis of sediment particles. 1992-94 in the computer center of the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research (AWI), Bremerhaven. 1994-97 conception and implementation of the scientific information system PANGAEA® (Publisher for Earth & Environmental Data)., which since 2001 is a certified and accredited ISCU World Data Center and a WMO World Data Center since 2007. Since 1998 at the Center for Marine Environmental Sciences (MARUM) at University Bremen, since 2001 Managing Director of PANGAEA® and from 2010-15 Vice-Chair of the ICSU World Data System Scientific Committee (WDS-SC).
